An independent East Devon carpenter who takes doors seriously.
AJW Carpentry is run by Alex Williams from Sidmouth, specialising in timber doors, second-fix carpentry and the finishing details that make a home feel properly finished.
A local firm built on doing the small things well.
AJW Carpentry was founded by Alex Williams after three years working with an established East Devon carpentry firm. Going self-employed meant one thing above all else: being personally responsible for every job that carries the AJW name.
The specialism is timber doors, front doors, internal doors, bi-folds, sliders and wardrobe doors. It's the work AJW does week in and week out, which is why doors are hung square, sealed properly and left closing quietly.
Alongside doors, AJW covers the second-fix and finishing carpentry that pulls a home together: skirting and architrave, fitted wardrobes and bedroom storage, loft boarding, timber garden buildings and general repairs. AJW deliberately doesn't do kitchens: that's a specialism of its own.
For larger installations, Alex brings in a small network of trusted subcontractors he's chosen himself. You still get one point of contact, one set of standards and one person accountable for the finished result.

Four standards, applied to every job.
AJW is a small firm on purpose. It means Alex can hold every job to the same standards, the ones that make the difference between a door that shuts and a door that shuts properly.
Do the work properly
Doors hung square, level and sealed. Skirting mitred cleanly. Every fixing chosen for the substrate. Nothing hidden by trim to be discovered later.
Leave the home tidy
Dust sheets down, tools tidied at the end of the day, offcuts removed. You shouldn't be able to tell we were there, except for the work that's just been done.
Be straight about it
One point of contact from quote to completion. Fixed price or day rate, your choice, agreed up front. No hidden extras and no chasing.
Stand behind it
Full installations supplied and fitted by AJW carry a 5-year workmanship guarantee. If our workmanship fails on a qualifying install, we come back and put it right.
The facts behind the promise.
